Cross Laminated Timber (CLT)

Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) is a massive wood building material consisting of bonded, cross-laminated single layers called lamellas. The CLT structure is formed with 3, 5, 7 or more lamella layers which vary in thickness. Formaldehyde-free and environmentally friendly adhesives are employed for bonding.
The cross structure of CLT guarantees integral stability and dimensional accuracy. Inherent structural qualities also include enhanced thermal and air tightness performance. Building with CLT provides programme efficiencies of speed and accuracy of construction. Factory controlled manufacture combined with accurate programmes for production, assembly and delivery reduces error and site remedial work.

Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam)

Glulam is manufactured from wood laminations laid parallel and finger jointed using moisture resistant adhesives. Individual sawn wood elements are graded for strength and performance and positioned so that the grain runs lengthwise along the beam. Any defects such as knots or grain inconsistencies are distributed randomly which gives the material additional strength.

Glulam’s strength and stiffness properties make the material suitable for specification as both horizontal beams and vertical columns.

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) is a high-strength wood product produced by rotary peeling logs into 3mm thick veneers which are heat and pressure bonded. LVL is a strong, light material which provides dimensional stability and uniform quality.

LVL is suitable for a range of applications including I-joists, posts and beams, roof trusses, wood-frame construction and prefabricated building elements such as ribbed panels and LVL cassettes
