Congratulations to Caffè Kix who will launch their latest ‘workplace’ cafe at Maidenhead’s Quantum Business Park in January 2018. The new venue features exposed CLT and glulam throughout providing a bright, open and welcoming break-out space for users of the Park which provides serviced office space for digital technology companies. The G-frame team worked closely with Furness Partnership to develop a structural solution that would meet the Client’s design requirement for an exposed soffit uninterrupted by support columns. This has been achieved by the use of CLT structural wall panels which support the 240 mm CLT roof slab, and glulam columns which punctuate the glazing at either side of the building and provide support whilst further enhancing the building’s aesthetic. The G-frame team installed the CLT and Glulam structure over one weekend in order to minimise disruption to the business park.
