Two projects highly commended at the 2020 Structural Timber Awards

Two of our most innovative private residential projects have been Highly Commended at the 2020 Structural Timber Awards which, delayed due to Covid 19, took place online in February 2021. Water Gardens Pod by Fletcher Crane Architects and Origami House by KSKa Architects were both praised by the judging panel for their creative and innovative designs, both of which have resulted in unique, contemporary new homes. The two buildings address key issues of urban living, including the shortage of affordable housing and the re-use and adaptation of existing structure. Origami House repurposes an existing garden building to provide a starter home for an adult daughter, built by her parents in the back garden of their west London home. Water Gardens Pod is a roof top extension; built on a near impossible brown field site, the three bedroom luxury dwelling for the rental market slots neatly beneath a seventeen storey tower block, sitting on a concrete plinth which forms the roof of an existing office building below.
