Contemporary five bedroom family home designed to Passive House standard
The G-frame team is currently on site in Hertfordshire installing the CLT and glulam superstructure for this contemporary five bedroom family home which is being built using CLT and glulam. Use of mass timber for the superstructure is part of an overall Passive House design approach which will help the project meet RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge standards.
The two-storey, 4,500 sq ft dwelling, which replaces an existing bungalow, is designed for multi-generational living and includes a senior-living guest suite. The main entrance features slender glazing panels bordered by a large bronze-clad canopy, this leads onto a dramatic, double-height hallway formed of large span glulam columns and CLT panels. Other features at the new home include a swimming pool, gym, sauna facilities and a cinema room.
